ABOUT

With its New Generations series, the Museum intends to focus on young artists emerging on the international scene. New Generations, curated by Marcella Beccaria, began in 2000 and has presented exhibitions dedicated to the work of Franz Ackermann, Teresita Fernández, Anna Gaskell, Francesco Vezzoli, Thomas Demand, Candice Breitz and Yang Fudong. In April 2008 a solo show will be given to Roberto Cuoghi. Born in Modena in 1973, Cuoghi is gaining recognition as one of the most promising Italian artists. A radical inventor of his own language, Cuoghi works in a wide variety of techniques photography, video, animation, painting, drawing and sound which he employs to develop his personal investigation into the principle of metamorphosis. The exhibition at the Castello will revolve around Pazuzu, a demon documented since the Assyrian era, whose iconography, through different forms and mutations, also pertains to our own time. In conjunction with the exhibition, the first catalogue of this artist`s work will be published by Skira, with an essay by the curator and complete biographical and bibliographical appendices.
