El Paso-based artist Margarita Cabrera discusses her practice and her iconic sculpture, Vocho (Yellow), of a sagging VW Beetle made of vinyl, featured in Pop Departures.

Cabrera creates culturally engaged work exploring border relations, labor, consumption, and production. She was born in 1973 in Monterrey, Mexico. She lived in Mexico City for ten years and then immigrated to the U.S. with her family. She received an MFA from Hunter College in New York, NY.
