Prospect 2011

The Contemporary Collectors and the International Collectors—MCASD ’s premier Membership groups—provide significant funds for the acquisition of new works for the Museum’s collection. Their contributions are celebrated by an annual exhibition which showcases unique works from the collection, alongside several new works which are voted on for purchase at the Collectors’ annual selection dinner.

Representing a variety of media, including sculpture, photography, and installation work, the proposed selections include work by artists featured in past and upcoming exhibitions (David Ellis and Helen Pashgian), as well as internationally known artists that would swell the ranks of MCASD ’s collection (Ai Weiwei, Sam Gilliam and Janine Antoni).

Prospect 2011 demonstrates the importance of these groups as the Museum continues to grow its collection and expand in new directions. The support of the Contemporary and International Collectors has allowed MCASD ’s curators to discover new artists, enhance the collection, and build an engaged and informed community of collectors and contemporary art supporters.
