ABOUT

In celebration of the Nasher Museum’s fifth anniversary, the museum presents an installation of contemporary works acquired since our founding. The exhibition features works by William Cordova, Noah Davis, Rineke Dijkstra, Marlene Dumas, David Hammons, Barkley L. Hendricks, Glenn Ligon, Christian Marclay, Dan Perjovschi, Dario Robleto, Carolee Schneemann, Gary Simmons, Eve Sussman, Hank Willis Thomas, Mickalene Thomas, Bob Thompson, Kara Walker, Kehinde Wiley and Fred Wilson, among others. In some cases, the works reflect relationships that the museum has built with artists through exhibitions here. Most of the artists are living and have achieved global reputations; some are emerging and others represent the museum’s interest in the art and culture of the African diaspora. The exhibition includes works in a variety of media--painting, photography, sculpture, video and installation— by more than 25 artists. The exhibition is curated by Trevor Schoonmaker, Patsy R. and Raymond D. Nasher Curator of Contemporary Art.
