Franco Mondini-Ruiz: Poodles & Pastries (and Other Important Matters)

A San Antonio and New York-based artist, Franco Mondini-Ruiz (American, b. 1961) creates works of art that address questions of high and low art, clever irony, nostalgia, cultural biases, and stereotypes. In site-specific installations, paintings, sculpture, and performances, the artist embraces his Mexican and Italian roots and brings meaning to his witty and playful objects. For the fourth installment of the NEW FRONTIERS Series for Contemporary Art, Mondini-Ruiz will conduct performances within a unique installation of over 1,000 paintings.
