The series exhibitions recommended by Zendai MoMA are a further step we take to support young Chinese artists. Furthermore, we also believe that presenting contemporary art from such a specific and original perspective will encourage a more stimulating debate, giving contemporary art a more dynamic feel. We are fully aware that this is a long-term task that takes great efforts and patience. We hope that through our unremitting efforts Zendai MoMA will become a cradle for incubating promising young artists. Letter of Recommendation Qiu Zhijie Liu Jiajing is one of my favorite students. During her undergraduate years, what she created fully embodied the ideal of Total Art Studio at China Art Academy: driven by curiosity, she managed to extend her own realm of experience by conducting numerous social surveys; at the meantime, she was good at analyzing and able to transform everyday experience into transcendental scenes by means of humor. Rational and irrational, public and private, inevitability and contingency, which are usually considered as opposite concepts, never seem to be conflicting in Jiajing’s art practices. During the past one year, Jiajing spent a lot of time visiting sample rooms and home decoration markets, meeting with various designers and interviewing a lot people about their experience of home decoration. Such a task seemed so overwhelming that one may doubt if a single student could ever handle it. Nevertheless, Jiajing made it. Hearing all those stories, funny or sad, we wonder what she thought of. In this regard, Look Up Together can be considered as a metaphor, reflecting her view about space. As her tutor, I am as curious as all the other audience. I look forward to seeing what Jiajing is going to present.
