EXHIBITION

Susan Philipsz

Museum of Old and New Art, Tasmania, Hobart, 01/13/2012 - 02/13/2012

ABOUT

Susan Philipsz won the Turner Prize in 2010 for her work Lowlands, which involved recording herself singing a melancholic song, and impregnating a public space with the recording. The sound of her singing has a strange effect. It makes you somehow feel more keenly the weight of the place you are in.

In the MONA galleries you will hear Susan's new work The Two Sisters, which is comprised of her singing a seventeenth-century Scottish song, seemingly to herself, about sororicide - the murder of one's sister.
