EXHIBITION

Photography by Women Artists

Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Indiana, Buffalo, 05/28/2010 - 07/25/2010

ABOUT

Photography by Women Artists will focus entirely on photographs created by women and will challenge our notion of the female perspective. This intimate installation will feature a dozen photographic works from the Gallery's Permanent Collection by Shirin Neshat, Angela Grauerholz, Sharon Lockhart, Gillian Wearing, and Carrie Mae Weems. It will include works from Weems' "Colored People Series" and several of Wearing's renowned self-portraits in which she dresses up as various members of her family. As the title suggests, Photography by Women Artists celebrates a wide range of female talent in a mostly male-dominated contemporary medium.
