ABOUT

Curators: Tami Katz-Freiman and Tal Yahas The exhibition of works by the winners of the 2007 Prizes in Art and Design from the Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport features artists who belong to several different generations, and reflects a range of trends, approaches and styles. This exhibition`s eclectic nature thus reflects the current state of the Israeli art world. The exhibition will include works created by the 31 winners in a range of techniques and expressive idioms: painting, drawing, photography, video, installation art, sculpture and design. These works are divided into five categories: Life Achievement Award, Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport Prize, Prize to Encourage Creativity, Prize for a Young Artist and Prize for Design. The works included in the exhibition address a range of themes related to current Israeli concerns and local life: the place of the artist in society, multiculturalism, the personal vs. the universal, the local landscape and its political resonances, a preoccupation with the body and with sexual and local identities in the face of globalization.
