BIOGRAPHY

Imhathai Suwatthanasilp is a contemporary artist who was born in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1981. She incorporates human hair into her work, which is the overall theme in her art. In 2004, Suwatthanasilp received her B.F.A. in Thai Arts (2nd Class Honors) from Silpakorn University, BKK, Thailand. She also received her MFA from Silpakorn University in Thai Arts in 2008.  Honors and Awards Suwatthanasilp has accumulated included 13 Thai Contemporary Artists Award, The Department of Culture Promotion, Ministry of Culture (2013); Silpa Bhirasri Silver Medal Award, the 22 Exhibition of Contemporary Arts by Young Artists (2005); Young Thai Artist Award, 2004 in field of Sculpture (2004).

Suwatthanasilp's selected solo exhibitions include Hair for Hope, Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC), BKK, Thailand (2012); Hair for Hope : The New Beginning, Ardel, Gallery, BKK, Thailand (2012); Diary of a Weaving Story, GMT+7 art & design Gallery Brussels, Belgium (2011); DNA, Valentine Willie Fine Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2008); Memory of my hair, ENSBA, Paris, France (2007).
