Laurent Lacotte

Laurent Lacotte born 1981, lives and works in Paris

 

A poetic instigator, Laurent Lacotte favors in situ works, creations that function purely in terms of location. His achievements carry a critical impact, strongly affirmed. Since their inception, the artist has focused on fragile and precarious materials to create ephemeral installations, forging bridges between art and everyday life and exploring the notions of public and  institutional space, both intimate and universal.

 

Guided by the world around him, he questions underlying problems, and with humor and poetry, he creates singular installations in unique environments.  Each exhibition is, for him, an opportunity to question and disrupt the codes of the museum world, to question, in particular, the sacredness of works or art and to invent alternative formats. Like his creations, which nest art and life, he wants to make his production processes visible, sharing them in order to collectively provoke dynamic artistic and human encounters.
