BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1978, lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. Yuasa studied at Royal College of Art in London in 2003 - 2005, as well as at Musashino Art University in Tokyo in 1998 - 2002. Since graduating, he participated several international Artist in residenciessuch as Rijksakademie van beeldende in Amsterdam, Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, Cité internationale des Arts in Paris and Danish Art Workshops in Copenhagen. He has shown internationally, including recent solo shows in Artify Gallery, Hong Kong (2013), ASPN Gallery, Leipzig (2013), The ISE Cultural Foundation, New York (2012), Gallery YUKI-SIS, Tokyo (2012). His work has also been included in the group shows in Aichi Arts Center Gallery, Nagoya (2012), The Courtauld Institute of Art, London (2012) and Royal Academy of Arts, London (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007). His work was featured in Paul Coldwell’s key publication ‘Printmaking: A Contemporary Perspective’ in 2010 and has entered numerous public collections including Victoria & Albert Museum, London and Museum der bildenden Kunste, Leipzig. In 2011, he won two major UK printmaking prizes: the Towry Print Prize at the RA Summer Exhibition, and the Northern Print Prize. Website: www.katsutoshiyuasa.com
