BIOGRAPHY

Francesco Arena was born in Torre Santa Susanna, Brindisi, in 1978, he currently lives and works in Cassano delle Murge, Bari.

When creating his works, Arena starts from the Italian history, in particular from the political and social facts that characterized the recent past. Episodes, that were hidden or hushed, in this way the works by Francesco Arena gain a new life as a result of the synthetic and metaphorical forms of his sculptures.

Francesco Arena has showed his works in solo exhibitions such as: (2013) Onze mille cent quatre-vingt sept jours, Frac Champagne-Ardenne, Reims. (2012) Trittico 57, Project Room, Museion, Bolzano; Orizzonte con riduzione di Mare, Monitor, Roma; (2011) Com'è piccola Milano, Peep Hole, Milano and (2010) Art Statement, Art Basel; Teste, Fondazione Ermanno Casoli, Fabriano.
