BIOGRAPHY
Luciana Lamothe was born in 1975 in Mercedes, Buenos Aires.
Lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She received her degree of Professor in Fine Arts,
specialization in Sculpture, in the year 1999 at the National
School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredon, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Between 2010 and 2011 Lamothe participated in the Kuitca
Scholarship at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Buenos Aires,
directed by the artist Guillermo Kuitca.
In 2013 she was invited to take part in the residence Air
Antwerp in Antwerp, Belgium where she developed a site-specific
project. In 2007 she was artist in residence at Skowhegan, Maine,
USA, where she produced a body of work linked to the context of
Skowhegan. In 2016 she was artist in residence at MANA Wynwood,
USA.
She has exhibited in numerous shows worldwide including Free
function, Galería Steve Turner, USA; My Buenos Aires, La Maison
Rouge-Fondation Antoine de Galbert, Paris, France, 2015; Nouvelles
Vagues, Palais de Tokyo-Galerie Alberta Pane, Paris, France, 2013;
Doble penetración, Torcuato Di Tella University, Buenos Aires,
Argentina, 2011; Fluiten in het donker, De Appel Arts Centre,
Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2011; Arte in Loco, Da Maré Museum, Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, 2010; Vertical hole, Punch Gallery, Seattle, USA;
Violencias, Museo del Barrio, New York, USA, 2008.
She also took part in Une terrible beaute est née, 11th Lyon
Biennial, Lyon, France; When things cast no shadows, 5th Berlin
Biennial, Berlin, Germany; 3rd Montevideo Biennial, Montevideo,
Uruguay: El Espejo Enterrado and in a satellite exhibition on the
occasion of the 7th edition of Göteborg International Biennial for
Contemporary Art, Göteborg, Sweden.
Her recent solo exhibitions include Metasbilad, Prisma KH,
Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2016; Patio de la fuente, Centro Cultural
Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2016; Bidimensional Bisagra at
Haroldo Conti Center, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2015; Prueba de
tensión, Ruth Benzacar Gallery, Buenos Aires, Argentina; The
Function of Form, Galerie Alberta Pane, Paris, France, both in 2014
and Contacto at The Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina
in 2013.
In the year 2011 she was awarded with the First Prize of the
Lichter Art Award, Frankfurt, Germany; and the First Prize of the
Itaú Cultural Award, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
