BIOGRAPHY
Mike Bouchet was born in 1970 in Castro Valley, California and currently lives and works in Frankfurt, Germany.

Bouchet’s work explores the contradictory nature of modern values through a juxtaposition of aesthetics. He utilizes the glamorous and mass-produced visuals of pop culture in contrast to the dirty, wasteful, and corporeal elements inherit in contemporary lifestyles. Many of his objects and installations provide functional, yet uncanny, experiences.

Bouchet has exhibited since the mid-1990’s in international institutions and galleries, including MoMA PS1 (2005), Palais de Tokyo (2009), the Schirn Kunsthalle (2010), Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo (2008, 2009, 2016), Jumex Collection Mexico (2010, 2012), Kunstverein Hannover (2012), Portikus Frankfurt (with Paul McCarthy, 2014) and Peres Projects Berlin (2014). Recent group exhibitions include Gagosian Gallery Rome, White Cube London, Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris, and the Schirn Kunsthalle. Solo shows in 2016 included Bounty at Peres Projects, Push at Galerie Parisa Kind, and MR2 at Galerie Azzedine Alaia in Paris. Several biennial participations include Manifesta 11 Zurich (2016), Venice Biennale (2009), Moscow Biennial (2007), and the Berlin Biennale (2006). His works are included in numerous public and private collections, including the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo; Bernard Arnault Collection, Paris; Centre Georges-Pompidou, Paris; Deutsche Bank Collection, Frankfurt; The Jumex Collection, Mexico City; LVMH Collection, Paris; Francois Pinault Collection, Venice; Moderne Museet, Stockholm; Margulies Collection, Miami; and Ullens Collection, Beijing.
