BIOGRAPHY

Dawit L. Petros was born in Asmara, Eritrea.  He has studied in the United States and Canada, receiving a BA in History from the University of Saskatchewan in 1996, a BFA from Concordai University, Montreal in 2003 and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston in 2007.

Dawit has had solo exhibitions at Alexander Gray Associates in New York City in 2008 and 2007, and at the Wedge Gallery in Toronto in 2006.  He has also been included in group exhibitions such as Floating Architectures and Constant Centers: Some Projections, Martin Art Gallery, Baker Center for the Arts, Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA;  Becoming: Photographs from the Wedge Collection, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), Detroit, MI;  Subpoena, Talman + Monroe, Brooklyn, NY;  Re-Imagine Kenya, Sikkema Jenkins & Co. Gallery, New York, NY;  Flow, Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, NY; Ultima Thule, MFA Thesis Exhibition, Tufts University Gallery, Medford, MA; Wedge Retrospective Exhibition, Wedge Gallery, Toronto, Canada; Faking Death, Jack Shainman Gallery, New York, NY; Alone, Gallery 44, Toronto, Canada; CAA Regional MFA Exhibition, Mass College of Art, Boston, MA; Wish, Bagg Gallery, Boston, MA and Visions of Active Citizenship, Tufts University, Medford, MA.
