BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1975 in La Rochelle, France, Lili Reynaud-Dewar lives and works in Paris. Reynaud-Dewar’s practice involves piecing together heterogeneous references drawn from such diverse sources as Rastafarianism, radical design, Jazz, Voodoo and Conceptual Art. By mashing-up these irreconcilable codes, Reynaud-Dewar creates enigmatic works that disrupt the immediate recognition and identification of peripheral sub-cultures, spectacularized through their partial and fetishistic insertion as exotic products into the mainstream. Screens, masks, costumes and scattered posters make up her scenographic works, which often activated through live performances and musical arrangements.
 
Recent solo exhibitions include Enseigner Comme Des Adolescents et Consortium, Dijon, I Am Intact and I Don't Care at Clearing New York and 21er Raum Belvedere, Vienna (2013), What A Century of Hands I Shall Never Have My Hands at Karma International, Zurich, This is My Place at Magasin, Grenoble(2012), Cleda's Chairs at Bielefelder Kunstverein (2011), “Interpretation” at Kunsthalle Basel, Basel (2010), "Antiteater” at Frac Champagne Ardennes, Reim (2010), “Power Structures, Rituals & Sexuality of the European Shorthand-Typists” at Mary Mary, Glasgow (2009). Her work has also been shown as part of Lyon Biennial and Frieze Projects 2013, Counterproduction, Generali Foundation, Vienna (2012), intense Proximité, Palais de Tokyo, Paris,The End of Money and “Morality” at Witte de With, Rotterdam (2010), “Elles@centrepompidou” at Centre Pompidou, Paris (2009), the 5th Berlin Biennale (2008).
