  • Haris Epaminonda (b. 1980, Nicosia, Cyprus) creates films, collage, and site-specific installations interwoven within a re-imagined architectural space, at once familiar and strange, specific and universal. Her compositions of various elements, both found and constructed, appear allusive, juxtaposing the highly modern and the ancient as time and memory compressed. Since 2007, together with Daniel Gustav Cramer, Epaminonda has been developing The Infinite Library, an ongoing project that serves as an expanding archive of books, each created out of pages of one or more found books and bound anew.    Solo exhibitions of Epaminonda’s work have been presented at Museum of Modern Art, New York; Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt; Modern Art Oxford, Oxford; Kunsthaus Zurich, Zurich; Fondazione Querini Stampalia, Venice; and Tate Modern, London. She has additionally participated in numerous group exhibitions including dOCUMENTA(13), Kassel; 5th Berlin Biennale, Berlin; Everyday Alchemy: Contemporary Sculpture, Tate Modern, London; The Generational: Younger Than Jesus, New Museum, New York and has co-represented Cyprus at the 52nd Venice Biennale, among others. Epaminonda lives and works in Berlin and received her post-graduate degree from Royal College of Art, London in 2003. Upcoming solo exhibitions will take place at Le Plateau Frac-ile-de-frac in Paris and CAAC, Seville.
