BIOGRAPHY

The work of Benoit Platéus (b. 1972 Liege, Belgium), winner of the ‘Young Belgian Painting’ award in 2003, doesn’t neglect any medium — photography, video, drawing or sculpture — in order to search for ambiguities in the most mundane field of visibility. Restless observer, precise, discrete and malicious, Benoit Platéus introduces a distance between objects and their perception in order to shift them to the other side, in a space with variable dimensions and multiple interpretations. In this way his art often acts as a psychic apparatus that plays on, questions and reflects the viewer’s perception and consciousness.

Recent solo exhibitions include FujiHunt, Bunk Club at The Chimney New York City,  Skibum at Mac Arthur Los Angeles (2016),  Behind The Scenes, Annarumma gallery, Napoli (2015), Homecoming, Galerie Jeanroch Dard, Paris (2014), Alexander Baronian in Bruxelles, Belgium (2013), Galerie Baronian_Francey, Bruxelles, Belgium (2008) and Galerie Aline Vidal, Paris, France (2007).
