Alix Smith was born in New York in 1978. Smith received a BA in History in 2000 from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and an MFA in Photography and Related Media in 2005 from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Solo exhibitions include Metaphorical Acts: Photography by Alix Smith at the Museum of Biblical Art in New York (2006-2007) and Caelum Gallery in New York (2004). Group exhibitions include Adventura: Photography in Unexpected Places at Moti Hasson Gallery in New York (2006); Landscape in Contemporary Photography at Briggs Robinson Gallery Presents at Hampton Road Galley in Southampton, New York (2006); Tina B. Prague Contemporary Art Festival in Prague (2006); and Alix Smith and Erika Somogyi at 404 Arte Contemporanea in Naples, Italy (2006). Alix Smith lives and works in New York.
