BIOGRAPHY

Ibrahim Miranda (Pinar del Rio, Cuba, 1969) graduated  from the Higher Institute of Art in Specialty of engraving in the year 1993. He has widely exhibited in national and international solo and group shows including Van Reekum Museum, Apeldoorn, The Netherlands; Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, Argentina; Musée de Beaux Arts, La Chaux-des-Fonds, Switzerland; Museum of Modern Art, Mexico, D.F.; Ernst Museum, Budapest, Hungary; National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana; Museum of Engraving in Curitiba, Brazil; Cultural Center of Athens,Athens, Greece; Alejandro Otero Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art Sofía Imber, Caracas,Venezuela; The Kunsthalle Düsseldorf; The Grafikmuseum-Stiftung Schiner and the Horst Janssen Museum, Oldenburg in Germany.

He obtained the First Prize at the Bienal de San Juan del Grabado Latinoamericano y del Caribe in Puerto Rico, 1993. He was also awarded the Regular Award of MTG Krakow in the International Print Triennial in Poland, 2003. He was the curator and co-organizer of "La Huella Múltiple" the Cuban event of Prints since its 3rd. Edition, for which he was awarded the National Prize of Curatorship in 2004.

 

His works are part of several public collections, including the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana; The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York; THe Museum of Engraving, Curitiba, Brazil; The Thyssen- Bornemisza Contemporary Art Foundation, Anit, Austria; The National Gallery of Art, Washington; Peter Norton Collection, Los Angeles; Museum Of Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale, the ASU Art Museum, Arizona and GRAPHICSTUDIO, Tampa.
