Anne Pöhlmann (b. 1978 in Dresden, Germany) completed her studies in Visual Arts and Photography in 2001 at Künstakademie Düsseldorf. Often citing the urban environment as a point of departure, the artist investigates the aesthetic potential and social implications of existing architectural structures, forms and spaces. Both found material and original recordings, film and slide projections are used in the artist's spatial arrangements, which examine constructed utopias in competing political and social systems.
Recent exhibitions include Städtische Bühne at the Kunstverein Düsseldorf, Emprise Art Award 2006 at Stadtmuseum Düsseldorf, Urban Appearances in Berlin and Screens at Büro DC. She is represented by Gallery CLAGES in Cologne. Anne Pöhlmann lives and works in Düsseldorf.
