BIOGRAPHY

Antonia Low, born 1972 in Liverpool UK, lives and works in Berlin. She studied Fine Arts at the Kunstakademie Münster and was awarded a Masters in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Low has created large spatial installations for K21, Kunstsammlung NRW, Düsseldorf (2014-2016); Palazzo Altemps, National Museum of Rome (2016); Kunstmuseum Bonn (2014); Kunstverein Braunschweig (2014); Städtische Galerie Nordhorn (2011); Stadtgalerie Kiel (2008); and Saarlandmuseum, Saarbrücken (2006), as well as at Berlin project spaces, such as NuN (2015), General Public (2013), LoBe (2010) and Samsa (2010). Other venues at which her works have been shown include: Kunsthaus Dahlem Berlin (2016); Eigen+Art Lab (2015); Deutsches Haus, New York (2014); IMMA - The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2014); FRAC Nord-Pas de Calais, Dunkirk (2013); MUDAC, Lausanne (2010); Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, Copenhagen (2006); Westfälisches Landesmuseum, Münster (2006); Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge (2003); and Kunstverein der Rheinlande & Westfalen, Düsseldorf (2000).

Antonia Low has been invited for projects and working grants by German Academy in Rome (Casa Baldi, 2016), Kunstfonds (2015); The Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin (2014); Kunstmuseum Bonn (2013); Cultural Ministry of Niedersachsen (Dorothea-Erxleben Programme 2011-2013); and CFCCA Manchester (Breathe Residency, 2013). She has received numerous honours, such as the Tisa-von-der-Schulenburg Artist Award (2014); Bonner Kunstpreis (2013); project grants from the Kunststiftung NRW (2003, 2008); and GWK Young Artist Award (Gesellschaft zur Förderung Westfälischer Kulturarbeit e.V., 2003).

Three monographs on her work have been published: Der verlorene Raum/Pax und Concordia wartend (Kettler Verlag, 2014), Inventar (The Greenbox Verlag, 2012) and Low Deluxe (Argobooks, 2009), with texts by Stephan Berg, Alexandra Heimes, Thomas Hirsch, Laura Mansfield, Veronika Olbrich, Nils Plath, Andreas Schlaegel, Ludwig Seyfarth, Julia Gwendolyn Schneider, Hilde Teerlinck, Gergana Todorova and Hilke Wagner.

She is represented by Eigen+Art Lab, Berlin.
