BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1974 in Ekeren, Belgium, Nico Dockx lives and works in Antwerp. Dockx works out of a fundamental preoccupation with archives and structural processes such as data, memories, information, distribution and management. Often the outcome of collaboration with other artists, his installations, publications, soundscapes, texts and videos investigate the relationship between perception and remembrance, allowing multiple interpretations to emerge.

Nico Dockx has participated in numerous international exhibitions, including “GAGARIN - The Artists in their Own Words” at SMAK Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Gent (2009), “Ars Viva 07/08. Sound” at CAC – Contemporary Art Center Vilnius, Vilnius and Kunstverein Hannover, Hannover (2008), “Societe Anonyme” at Kadist Art Foundation, Paris (2008), “ACADEMY. Learning from Art” at MuHKA Museum voor Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen, Antwerp (2006), “Building Transmissions” at Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Bologna - GAM, Bologna (2006), “Kris Delacourt, Nico Dockx & Jan Mast” at the Center for Contemporary Art - CCA Kitakyushu, Kitakyushu (2005) as well as “Utopia Station”, the 50th Venice Biennial, Venice (2003).

Nico Dockx collaborates with LIGHTMACHINE.
