Bhakti Baxter was born in the year 1979 in Miami, Florida. He was a co-founder of The House, a now defunct alternative art space, and later received his BFA from the New World School of The Arts in Miami. His work can be found in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami as well as in private collections worldwide. Selected solo exhibitions include: The Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami 2002, Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris 2005, Bravin Lee programs 2009, and Federica Schiavo Galley in Rome 2010. Bhakti Baxter works in a variety of media and helps organize collaborative exhibitions in Miami during the odd numbers of the year. He is represented by Bravin Lee programs in New York and Federica Schiavo Gallery in Rome. Baxter lives and works in Miami, Fla.
Through themes that include infinity, light and the concept of
zero or the void, Bhakti Baxter investigates the territory between
science and spirituality. His work brings to mind the intricate and
organic world of nature translated geometrically. Baxter’s practice
engages the world of the everyday appearances and the mystery of
the abstract as one and the same. As he explores both the symmetry
and infinity of nature and ritual, his work emphasizes the creative
process as a gateway to a greater understanding of life. Whether
using paint, ink or physical space, his aim points toward a fractal
universe with doorways to the infinite at every intersection.
