BIOGRAPHY

Andreas Diefenbach (b. 1973 Wiesbaden, Germany) is the co-founder of the gallery Hinterconti in Hamburg. From 2001-2006 he has studied in the painting class of Michael Krebber at the Städelschule in Frankfurt. Present in well-known collections, he has participated in exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin. He is represented by  FELD+HAUS. Andreas Diefenbach lives and works in Frankfurt & Paris.

Diefenbach plays on a broad and nuanced set of references. His particular dynamism and drive fueled by an enormous curiosity makes his art powerful. The individual art works are difficult to categorize but are highly personal in the sense that they treat subjects and materials like paint, inkjet prints and magazine coutouts in a proprietary manner. His process of producing art functions like an experimental lab and the pleasure of the spectator resides in being surprised. Diefenbach´s credo seems the appropriation of the universe of meanings and expressing a joy of life with the final goal to seduce.
