Zilvinas Landzbergas

Žilvinas Landzbergas (b. 1979 in Kaunas, Lithuania. Lives and works in Vilnius, Lithuania) obtained his Master of Fine Arts diploma at Vilnius Academy of Arts (Sculpture department) in 2004. In 2005-2007 Žilvinas was a student at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He also was a part of Summer Art Academy (course of Ylja Kabakov) in 2002 in Salzburg, Austria, and in 2001 spent one semester at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Plymouth, UK. In 2010 Žilvinas was one of the artists representing Lithuania at the Liverpool Biennial. In 2008 Ž. Landzbergas gained Thieme Art Award. 

 

Personal mythology, experiences and feelings, and every tiny detail or moment are the most important values that make up the conceptual foundation of Žilvinas Lanzbergas’ oeuvres. According to the artist, we are the creators of our personal myths and symbolic meanings that shape our reality. Landzbergas’ installations consist mostly of found materials and objects and include many details. It's like a micro-cosmos that each time intellectually reveals a different artist's personal experience and life story. His works are characterized by semantic associativity and simplicity of forms and materials. 

Žilvinas Landzbergas is represented by “Vartai” Gallery in Vilnius and Fons Welters Gallery in Amsterdam.
