BIOGRAPHY

Juanli Carrion (b. 1982 Yecla, Spain) lives and works in Brooklyn. Solo and group exhibitions include the Contemporary Art Museum of the Basque Country ARTIUM, Centro Parraga, La Casa Encendida, Rosa Santos Gallery, and MuVIM (Spain); Art Institute of Chicago, White Box, NURTUREart, Abrons Art Center, Y Gallery, Friedman Benda Gallery and BAM (USA); Ex-Teresa Museum, San Luís Potosi Center for the Arts and the Contemporary Art Museum of Oaxaca (Mexico); The Royal West of England Academy (UK), and the National Museum of Art (Trinidad & Tobago). He has been in residency at Espaço Fonte in Brazil, LMCC Workspace and ISCP in NYC, Nagoya University in Japan, ADM in Mexico, and Kuona Trust in Kenya, among others. In 2012 he was awarded the Visual Arts Prize “Generación 2012” by Caja Madrid Foundation, Spain, and was nominated as best young photographer for the ICP Infinity Awards, New York. In 2014 he developed OSS#01, an ongoing public art installation commissioned by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.
