BIOGRAPHY

Chosil Kil (b. 1975 Seoul, Korea) graduated from the Royal College of Art, London. For her installation art pieces, Kil deals with a variety of mundane objects and assembles them in creative ways to delineate stories. In spite of her desire to make art that has its historical or political motivation, Kil aims to maintain its connection with personal or poetic significance; her work titled Rings (2008) is “formed from gold rings given to Kil by her mother when she left Korea 11 years ago with an instruction only to be used in case of emergency.” This delicate and sophisticated piece of work puts an emphasis on symbolic or emotional value in her artworks.

Recent exhibitions include: Concentration Series at Dallas Museum of Art, Texas (2015); Aoyama I Meguro, Tokyo (2014); Modern Families, Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork (2013); A House of Leaves, group exhibition, David Roberts Art Foundation, London (2013)

Chosil Kil lives and works in London, UK.
